Boyz II Men have received a special honour from the state of Philadelphia as a street renamed after them in the city where their career began.
Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris & Shawn Stockman, the trio who make up the musical group got the section of Christian to Carpenter streets on Broad Street renamed Boyz II Men Boulvard.
Boyz II Men BLVD. is situated near the Philadelphia High School for The Creative & Performing Arts where the group were once aspiring young musicians.
An excited Stockman said at the unveiling:
This is where it all started. It’s a real honor to know that the city that raised us, the city that practically brought us up musically and otherwise, was gracious and kind enough to give us this honor. I’m proud. It’s a cool thing.
The group also performed alongside students of the school in a special acapella rendition of the group’s “Motownphilly” and “Medley America”.
